Thank God I'm a Country BoyTimothy - We’ve always been intrigued with the thought of mixing hip hop loops and country music together and this song is the result. We’d played John Denvers “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” many times in our live show before, so this song seemed ideal to experiment with to try and modernize. We created this version of the song rehearsing for our 2010 show with an idea riff that Tim came up with. The harmony “aahs” came easy and Michael added the classic riff from “Sweet Home Alabama” to top it off. Dominic created the loops using logic pro in our recording studio. When we recorded the song we laid it down almost exactly the way we had performed it live, except for Dominic's fiddle solo. Dominic loves distorted violin, (he was an electric guitar player in a past life), and wanted to play an absolutely crazy, insane fiddle solo, which is exactly what he did! This song is one of our favorites on the album. |
