Anytown Texas

Born and raised in Anytown Texas,
Daddy was a hard workin son of a gun,
Worked his body to the bone,
Building us a life and a home,
Momma stayed home raised 8 of us,
She had big dreams but she gave them up,
We never had enough to go around,
Even the single wide was a hand me down,

Dusty winds keep on blowing,
Hard times keep turnin round and round,
Trying to keep your head above water,
Knowing any day you could go down,

Momma wanted Jesus to change my Dad,
She never loved all the habits he had,
He loved his smokes,
He loved his Jim Beam,
Shared them both with me when I was 13,

At night you hear them through the walls,
Shouts so loud echoed through the halls,
We loved our Dad,
We loved our Mother,
8 mouths to feed they forgot they loved each other,

Dusty winds keep on blowing,
Hard times keep turnin round and round,
Trying to keep your head above water,
Knowing anyday you could go down,

I asked my Dad why he worked so hard,
Never came home never played in the yard,
He said Son I have to fight for every dime and every dollar,
Just like my Daddy did,
And his Dad before him,

Dusty winds keep on blowing,
Hard times keep turnin round and round,
Trying to keep your head above water,
Knowing anyday you could go down,

Yes I knew any day,
We could go down.
